Suffering from unexplained symptoms?
IT'S
BEEN SEVERAL MONTHS since our last newsletter—I
hope you haven't forgotten us! Things were crazy over the
holidays, and you
know the rest of the story... I hope you're off to a great
2007!
Among
lots of other things that happened during this hiatus, I
learned some surprising things from a food allergy test
and thought that sharing this information might be useful
to you.
After
trying many nutritional supplements and other 'natural cures'
for inflammatory
arthritis that just didn't work for me, I decided
to do some research into what causes this problem. One possible
cause that came up
repeatedly was food allergies. Since I had also tried lots
of unsuccessful cures for intestinal problems (bloating
and abdominal pain in the late evening) I thought
it might
be worth checking whether I was allergic to any foods.
What
a shock it was to discover that I am very sensitive to some
of the foods I ate almost every day—dairy
products,
eggs and garlic. Since dropping these from my diet (which is
no easy task, especially during the holidays) I'm thrilled
to report that not only did my arthritis go away, but I lost
a couple inches off my abdomen and I no longer feel like
I'm going to explode by the end of the day.
But
now, of course, I have to ask why am I sensitive to these
foods and what can I do to fix it. In one of my favorite
*must read* books, Our
Toxic World by Doris Rapp, MD,
I read about a quantum physics-type method of treating food
allergies called Total Body Modification (TBM). Always looking
for the shortest route to my destination, I decided to give
it a try. TBM, as done by a local chiropractor/kinesiologist,
is a pretty odd treatment,
but it seems to be working, at least on the eggs and garlic!
After
witnessing my experience, my husband decided to get
tested too. He found out he's sensitive to
13
foods, including
dairy,
wheat,
tomatoes,
avocado, and a number of other things that he was eating
almost every
day!
Since
eliminating the offending foods he's
been
sleeping
better; so we're hoping this might be the solution to the
insomnia that's been plaguing him for many years. And I'm
hoping his body can be 'modified' too, because cooking meals
with these restrictions is enough to give me a pain in another
part of my body!
I've
discovered that food sensitivities are associated with a long
list of common health problems, from mild discomforts
to incapacitating illnesses. So,
if you have unexplained symptoms, you might consider a test
for food allergies. If you find out something
valuable we'd
love to hear about
it!
To
your health, and a flat stomach ;-)

Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Are
there any skin care products that I can use with the DPL Therapy
System to speed up or enhance results?
A. I
probably have a different opinion about cosmetics and personal
care products than many 'skin care specialists', but because
ingredients
used in this industry are not regulated for safety,
and many common ones have been implicated as possible
causes of serious health problems, I advise
my friends,
family and
customers to use chemical-free products.
So, even
though
certain skin
care
products may produce
faster 'results' in the short run, I prefer to play it safe
and avoid the health problems that may be caused
by the chemicals used in the vast majority of cosmetics (see "dirty
dozen" below).
And, based on my research, I believe that chemical-free
skin care will result in more beautiful skin as a person
ages.
My
recommendation: Depending on your skin type, I'd advise using
one of the skin care lines produced by Aubrey
Organics. No chemicals are used
in Aubrey's products, and citrus seed extract,
Vitamins A, C and E are the only ingredients used as
preservatives. Also see Campaign
for Safe Cosmetics for information about
the safety of common ingredients.
